「Cloth」

Churyo Sato (1912-2011)

Japanese Chinese Korean

The nude woman stands straight in a casual manner. She holds a piece of cloth in the left hand which accents this sculpture ingeniously. This is one of Sato's relatively recent small pieces which is excellent enough to show the mature style he has attained. Both motion and thickness being extremely restricted, this piece has quiet and firm presence and poetic richness and brings about a refreshing impression.
