Kotaro Takamura (1883〜1956)

Japanese Chinese Korean

This is the same piece as Takamura's masterpiece in his later years which is placed at the shore of Lake Towada, Aomori Prefecture. It expresses the great and profound nature of Lake Towada and at the same time incarnates the afterimage of his deceased wife Chieko who is still alive in his heart. This piece has an extremely exceptional construction that two identical nude women stand face to face. The keen description which he pursued to grasp the essence of things in early Showa era is not found here any more. It depicts the gentle and mild body calmly.
